Indian Punjab Chief Minister Invited to World Punjabi Conference in Lahore

Indian Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has confirmed receiving an invitation to attend the World Punjabi Conference in Lahore on November 27.

According to Indian media reports, Mann disclosed the invitation while addressing the Punjab Assembly. He said the organizers had invited him to Lahore and offered to host him.

However, he questioned whether the Indian government would permit him to travel to Pakistan. In his characteristic humorous and sarcastic style, Mann referred to the approval requirements for his overseas visits.

He said the government had not allowed him to visit countries such as France and Japan, raising doubts about whether it would approve a trip to Pakistan.

Despite his concerns over travel clearance, Mann expressed his wish to attend the conference. He highlighted the shared culture on both sides of the border and said poets and other participants would travel to Lahore.

“Our culture is the same. Our poets and others will go to Lahore. I also want to go,” he said.

During the exchange, the Punjab Assembly speaker asked Mann to take other assembly members along if he received permission.

In response, Mann said he wanted them all to visit Kartarpur.

His remarks confirmed the invitation and his interest in travelling to Lahore, but did not establish whether he would attend the conference.
