Pakistan Business Leaders Vow More Investments After Meeting With PM Shehbaz
Pakistan’s business community has expressed confidence in the government’s economic direction and pledged to increase investment and support export growth following a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Prominent business leaders, including Arif Habib, Umar Saeed, Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim, Shahzad Saleem and Javed Balwani, said the government had responded positively to several proposals raised by the business community during the budget process.

Speaking after the meeting, Arif Habib said the Prime Minister had invited members of the business community to review the direction of the economy and discuss the measures taken in the federal budget.
He said the business community appreciated the government’s efforts to engage with the private sector and expressed hope that the country would see higher investment and export growth during the current year.
The government had committed to working with the business community as a partner to improve the economy, he added.
Umar Saeed said the government and cabinet had implemented several requests made by the business community during the budget discussions. He said the business community had now given its confidence to the government and was ready to make further investments.
Saeed also praised the coordination between the business community and the federal cabinet, saying such cooperation had not been seen in the past to the same extent.
Jazz CEO Discusses AI Factories in Pakistan
Aamir Ibrahim said the meeting focused heavily on increasing exports, covering both traditional industries and emerging sectors.
He said telecommunications, digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence were among the key areas discussed during the meeting.
Ibrahim said Pakistan should focus on developing AI infrastructure, including data centres and AI factories, to create new opportunities beyond traditional export sectors such as textiles.
He said Pakistan could eventually export digital intelligence and AI-related services alongside its existing exports.
More feedback
Shahzad Saleem described the meeting as productive, saying the Prime Minister listened carefully to the concerns and suggestions presented by business leaders.
He said the Prime Minister took note of the issues discussed and gave directions during the meeting for some of the problems to be resolved.
Saleem also stressed the need for regular meetings between the government and industry to maintain closer coordination and address business concerns.
Javed Balwani appreciated the government’s decision to establish offices of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) in Karachi and Lahore.
He said continued interaction between the Prime Minister and the business community could help resolve issues affecting businesses and support improvements in exports and the overall economy.
