Islamabad Police Gets New BYD Electric Cars

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif handed over 50 new BYD electric vehicles to Islamabad Police during a ceremony held under the “Capital Patrols Electric Vehicles” and “Go Green” initiative.

The induction is part of a broader push by Islamabad Capital Police and Islamabad Traffic Police to adopt green, sustainable policing by incorporating electric vehicles manufactured by Chinese automaker BYD into their fleet.

The rollout began with an initial batch of electric vehicles introduced in Islamabad to cut fuel costs and reduce the force’s carbon footprint.

The latest addition of 50 BYD vehicles marks a further expansion of the green fleet, with the cars set to be deployed for Capital Patrol Unit operations and traffic management duties across the capital.

Officials say the shift to electric vehicles will also help conserve foreign exchange reserves by reducing dependence on conventional fuel.
