Punjab Introduces New Schedule for Teacher Promotions

The Punjab School Education Department has made it mandatory for districts to hold Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings four times a year to speed up the promotion process for teachers and other employees across the province.

The department has issued formal directions to all chief executive officers (CEOs) of districts to ensure timely, transparent and efficient processing of departmental promotions.

Under a notification issued by the School Education Department, districts must hold DPC meetings in January, April, July and October each year. The department has directed all CEOs to complete the four scheduled meetings for 2026 by October.

The department has warned that it will take strict disciplinary action against officers who fail to hold the mandatory promotion meetings according to the prescribed schedule. The department will also open the School Information System (SIS) portal four times a year to facilitate the promotion process.

Under the new schedule, DPCs will meet during the first week of January, April, July and October. Officials will tag eligible employees on the SIS portal during the third week of each scheduled month, while the department will open the promotion actualization round during the fourth week.

The department will evaluate the performance of CEOs and district education officers (DEOs) based on their timely disposal of promotion cases.
