Lenovo’s New Gaming Tablet Packs Built-In 5G and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

Lenovo has officially launched the Legion Y700 AI, its latest compact gaming tablet, featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, an upgraded OLED display, and built-in 5G connectivity.

The tablet previously appeared in teasers with an impressive 4,585,844 AnTuTu score, and Lenovo has now confirmed the hardware responsible for that performance.

Design and Display

The Legion Y700 AI features an 8.4-inch OLED display with a 2560 × 1600 resolution and a refresh rate of up to 165Hz.

The 12-bit panel supports Dolby Vision and reaches up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness. It also supports 3840Hz PWM dimming.

Despite its gaming-focused hardware, the tablet measures only 6.5mm thick and weighs around 298 grams.

Lenovo offers it in Ice White, Cloud Purple and Cloud Tide Purple. An RGB lighting ring around the rear camera, called Legion Halo, changes color depending on what the tablet is doing.

Internals and Software

The tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with fast LPDDR5T RAM operating at up to 10,667Mbps and UFS 4.1 Pro storage.

Three configurations are available:

  • 12GB + 256GB
  • 16GB + 512GB
  • 24GB + 1TB

Storage can also be expanded by up to 2TB using a microSD card.

The chipset sits near the middle of the tablet to keep heat away from users’ hands, while a 15,000mm² vapor chamber helps manage temperatures during gaming.

It runs Android 16 with ZUI 16 and includes AI features such as voice assistance and real-time interpretation.

Connectivity and Cameras

All three configurations support 5G connectivity and dual SIM. The tablet also includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

There are two USB-C ports. The USB 3.2 Gen 2 port on the long side supports DisplayPort video output, allowing users to connect the tablet to an external display. A second USB 2.0 Type-C port can be used for charging and audio.

This also means users can charge the tablet while using wired USB-C headphones.

There is no 3.5mm headphone jack, but Lenovo includes dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and two X-axis linear vibration motors.

The tablet has a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera.

Battery and Pricing

The Legion Y700 AI packs a 7,470mAh dual-cell battery with support for 68W fast charging.

The 12GB + 256GB model starts at approximately $818, while the 16GB + 512GB version costs around $967. The top-end 24GB + 1TB configuration is priced at approximately $1,264.

Lenovo is offering a launch discount on the 256GB and 512GB versions. This brings the base 12GB + 256GB model down to around $669 during the promotion.

The Lenovo Legion Y700 AI is currently available only in China, with no global launch details announced yet.
