Rehmat Ali Hasnie’s Tenure as NBP President Ends

Rehmat Ali Hasnie’s tenure as President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) ended on August 21, 2026, after the government granted him a final two-week extension earlier this month, while it is currently in search of a new head of the state-owned bank.

NBP informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Friday that Hasnie’s tenure had expired effective August 21. The disclosure was made through a letter signed by Mehnaz Salar, Acting Company Secretary, and addressed to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

The development follows a two-week extension granted by the federal government on August 6. The extension took effect on August 7 and was set to remain valid for two weeks or until a new President and CEO assumed office, whichever came first.

Hasnie was formally appointed NBP President in August 2023 after serving as Acting President since May 2022. He has been with NBP since 2010 and previously led its investment banking, corporate banking and priority sector lending businesses.
