70 People Fall Ill After Eating Suspected Contaminated Food at Engagement Ceremony

At least 70 people fell ill after eating suspected contaminated food at an engagement ceremony in Swari Bazaar, Buner.

According to local reports, the meal served at the engagement of a man named Waliullah’s daughter caused health problems for a large number of guests, many of whom had come from Chagharzai and Paggyal.

Women and children were among the majority of those affected. They were rushed to the hospital for treatment, where Medical Superintendent Dr Farrukh Syed said 20 patients were discharged after receiving immediate treatment, while the remaining 50 are still under treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital.

Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner also visited the hospital after the incident and directed the administration to provide the best possible treatment to the victims.

Police have started an investigation into the incident.
