iPhones Could Get Even More Expensive in 2027
Apple could raise iPhone prices again next year after reportedly agreeing to pay Samsung more for DRAM and NAND memory starting in the first quarter of 2027.
The development comes just before the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max go on sale with prices already $100 higher than their 2025 predecessors.
Older models from the iPhone 17 and iPhone 16 series have also received $100 price increases.
Apple Reportedly Accepts Higher Samsung Prices
Recent reports from South Korea said Samsung had started renegotiating DRAM and NAND prices with smartphone manufacturers, including Apple.
According to the latest report, Apple and Samsung have now reached an agreement on the revised pricing.
Apple will reportedly pay close to $2.00 per gigabit for LPDDR5X RAM and $0.33 per gigabit for NAND storage beginning in Q1 2027.
For comparison, Samsung reportedly charged around $1.50 per gigabit for LPDDR5X and $0.26 per gigabit for NAND in Q3 2026.
That would represent a significant increase in memory costs for Apple.
Another iPhone Price Increase Could Follow
The higher component prices could add more pressure to iPhone production costs.
Apple is already increasing prices across parts of its lineup, with the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max launching at $100 more than the equivalent 2025 models.
If memory costs rise further next year, Apple could face additional pressure to increase retail prices again.
The report does not confirm how much any future iPhone price increase would be.
Oppo and Vivo Reportedly Refused the Increase
Apple was not the only smartphone manufacturer asked to renegotiate memory prices with Samsung.
However, Oppo and Vivo reportedly refused to accept Samsung’s higher prices.
It is not yet clear which memory suppliers the two companies may use instead.
Future teardowns of their flagship smartphones could reveal whether they switched suppliers after rejecting Samsung’s revised pricing.
