US Student Survives After Falling From Eighth-Floor Apartment Window

A 21-year-old university student from the USA survived a fall from an eighth-floor apartment window in Athens, Georgia, after landing near a swimming pool on the building’s second-floor terrace.

Christine Sargent, a University of Georgia student, fell on September 26. Witnesses told police she had been dancing on a couch near an open window when she slipped and fell outside.

Investigators found evidence suggesting Sargent struck a metal bench near the pool. The bench was damaged, and bloodstains were discovered on its cushion. Police said they believed it helped break her fall.

Her friends contacted emergency services after finding her lying motionless. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police classified the incident as an accident and said they did not consider it a criminal matter. They also confirmed that Sargent lived in the apartment building.

Relatives said she was recovering quickly, although details of her injuries were not provided in the report. Her sister expressed gratitude that she had survived.

The account places her landing on the second-floor terrace rather than at ground level, despite the fall beginning at an eighth-floor window.
