Two Pakistani triathletes completed challenging international triathlon events in China and Uzbekistan, with Pakistan Navy’s Lieutenant Shahzada Asad competing at IRONMAN 70.3 Dali and Jibran Jawaid taking part in Challenge Samarkand.
Shahzada Asad completed the 113km IRONMAN 70.3 Dali event in China in 6 hours, 30 minutes and 41 seconds.
The race included a 1.9km swim, a 90km cycling leg and a 21.1km run. Shahzada completed the swimming segment in 40 minutes and 57 seconds, followed by the cycling leg in 2 hours, 59 minutes and 8 seconds.
He then completed the half-marathon run in 2 hours, 30 minutes and 16 seconds.
The cycling course was largely flat and took participants along Erhai Lake, while the running route passed through the Dali Erhai Lake Ecology Landscape Corridor.
Shahzada Asad’s performance marked a notable endurance achievement for Pakistan at an international triathlon event. He is the first person from Pakistan’s armed forces to participate in an event of this kind, marking a significant milestone for the country’s military athletes in international endurance sports.
Meanwhile, Jibran Jawaid completed Challenge Samarkand in Uzbekistan in 5 hours, 25 minutes and 52 seconds, including transitions.
A member of the Sea View Running Club, Jibran completed the 109.4km course, starting with the 1.9km swim in 40 minutes and 29 seconds.
He then completed the 88.1km cycling leg, which included 400 meters of elevation gain, in 2 hours, 34 minutes and 37 seconds.
Jibran finished the 21.5km run in 1 hour, 55 minutes and 15 seconds.
The Challenge Samarkand cycling course took athletes through the historic and modern landscapes of Samarkand, while the four-lap run was held around the rowing canal at the Silk Road Samarkand complex.
Both events featured demanding combinations of swimming, cycling and running, testing the athletes’ endurance across different courses and conditions.
