TCL has introduced two NxtPaper tablets and the Kids Watch K5 at IFA. Unlike the company’s new P80 smartphones, which introduced AMOLED-based NxtPaper displays, both tablets use LCD panels.
TCL Tab A1 NxtPaper
The TCL Tab A1 NxtPaper features an 11-inch NxtPaper LCD with 2.1K resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.
TCL will offer the tablet separately as well as in a bundle with a Kids Proof case. The case adds protective padding, space for a small stylus, and a built-in carrying handle that also works as a kickstand.
The tablet uses MediaTek’s Helio G100 chipset with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
It has a metal unibody measuring 6.2mm thick and weighs 426 grams. TCL has equipped it with an 8,000mAh battery.
The TCL Tab A1 NxtPaper bundled with the Kids Proof case will cost approximately $313.
TCL Tab A1 Plus NxtPaper
The TCL Tab A1 Plus NxtPaper was originally announced in March and is already available in Europe and the US. TCL also offers a version of the tablet without NxtPaper technology.
It features a 12.2-inch LCD with a resolution of 2,400 × 1,600 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate.
TCL’s NxtPaper eye-care technology reduces blue light from the display and glare caused by surrounding light.
The tablet is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
It packs a 10,000mAh battery with 33W charging support.
The metal unibody measures 6.7mm thick, while the tablet weighs 556 grams.
The 256GB model starts at approximately $348, while the 512GB version costs around $418.
TCL Kids Watch K5
TCL also unveiled the Kids Watch K5, which uses 4G connectivity to keep children connected.
The smartwatch can report the wearer’s location and includes a School Mode designed to remove distractions. TCL says its battery can provide up to 2.2 days of use.
The watch also supports replaceable straps, allowing users to change its appearance.
TCL has developed a motorized cradle for the Kids Watch K5. Placing the watch in the cradle turns it into a small robot-style desk accessory that can move from side to side.
The TCL Kids Watch K5 will cost approximately $116 when purchased on its own.
