Choose the Ironclad, the Silent, the Defect, or the Watcher, start with a bare-bones deck, and climb the Spire floor by floor. You work to add cards and relics while fighting through elites and bosses along the way, The box is stuffed with more than 650 cards plus four miniatures, map boards, and a token tray, so every game plays out differently. It works just as well solo as it does with a full table, and you can save a campaign mid-climb and pick it up next game night.

Catan is a veritable board game classic, and it’s a great pickup to snag while it’s discounted. Three to four players settle a randomly laid-out island, collecting wood, brick, wool, grain, and ore to build roads, settlements, and cities. Games wrap up in about an hour to 90 minutes, and it’s fairly easy to learn. And if you’re tired of playing the same things over and over, Catan’s modular board means no two games set up the same way. It’s a significant upgrade from Monopoly that’s suitable for the whole family.

Cavity Sam lies on the table with a dozen ailments like the Wishbone, Charley Horse, and Butterflies in the Stomach. Players take turns using the tweezers to pull each piece out without touching the metal edges. Brush the side and his nose lights up and buzzes, and you lose your turn. If you’ve ever wanted to get started with Dungeons & Dragons but didn’t know how, this board game is the perfect introduction. It has a quick-start guide, player boards for the Cleric, Rogue, Wizard, and Fighter, and cards for species, backgrounds, spells, and gear so nobody has to build a character from scratch. Three to five players run through three adventure booklets split between combat, exploration, and roleplaying, and the poster maps for the Keep and the Caves of Chaos pull from one of the oldest modules in the game’s history. It’s got everything beginners need and then some, so it’s a much less daunting introductory experience.
