Lahore Traffic Police have decided to deploy additional personnel to keep traffic moving during school, college, and university hours.
Traffic wardens will perform duties outside more than 200 schools located on busy and important roads across the city.
In addition, 100 extra traffic response units and patrolling officers have been deployed on major roads to help manage traffic flow.
Extra staff will remain present on Mall Road, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Iqbal Road, Wahdat Road, Maulana Shaukat Ali Road and Canal Road.
Lahore CTO Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi has directed circle officers to remain in the field themselves during school opening and closing times. He has also ordered meetings with school and college administrations.
According to the CTO, only single-line parking will be allowed outside schools at the time of dismissal. Action will also be taken against double-parking and against carts and stalls outside schools and colleges.
Traffic Police have also decided to restart the Traffic Scouts program.
The in-charge of the education unit has been directed to revive the program, while the in-charge of driving schools has been told to prepare a scooter training program.
A schedule will also be prepared for road safety awareness lectures in schools, colleges and universities so that students can be informed about traffic rules and safe driving.
