The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) has suspended several officers accused of being involved in irregularities during the organization’s recruitment process.
Officials from the Ministry of National Food Security and Research told a Senate committee that disciplinary proceedings had also been launched against the officers under the Efficiency and Disciplinary Rules. The case is currently before the court.
The development came under discussion during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research, chaired by Senator Syed Masroor Ahsan. Committee members questioned officials over the absence of a written response and supporting documents related to the recruitment case.
The committee also raised concerns about candidates who applied for PARC positions but may become ineligible because they are nearing or have crossed the prescribed age limit. Members proposed allowing such candidates to apply for future vacancies despite exceeding the age limit, given that they had already applied for the disputed recruitment process.
The committee also pressed officials to ensure that provincial quotas apply to all PARC positions, including lower-grade jobs. Officials said the necessary formalities had been completed and that the quota would be implemented.
