SECP Sets New Company Registration Record

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered a record 5,438 new companies in July, marking the highest monthly number of company incorporations in the country’s history.

The latest registrations included 3,148 private limited companies, 2,117 single member companies, 127 limited liability partnerships, 28 nonprofit organizations, and 18 public companies. The SECP also said five foreign companies established offices in Pakistan during the month.

According to the regulator, companies from Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, and China entered the Pakistani market, while 112 newly registered companies included foreign directors.

Punjab accounted for the largest share of new registrations, with 2,756 companies, representing 51 percent of the total. Islamabad recorded 1,053 new companies, followed by Sindh with 864, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 450, Gilgit Baltistan with 180, and Balochistan with 135.

The information technology sector recorded the highest number of new company registrations, with 1,008 companies incorporated during July. The trading sector followed with 845 companies, while the services sector registered 638 companies and the construction sector added 348.

Other sectors also recorded notable activity, including 256 companies in food and beverages, 207 in tourism, 181 in ecommerce, 165 in education, 162 in real estate development, and 145 in corporate agriculture, according to the SECP.
