SBP Profit Declines by Rs. 507 Billion in FY26

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) recorded a net profit of Rs. 1,992 billion in FY26, down 20 percent from Rs. 2,499 billion in FY25, according to its latest financial statements.

The decline was mainly driven by a sharp fall in interest income, which dropped to Rs. 1,905 billion from Rs. 2,581 billion a year earlier.

Meanwhile, the central bank earned more than Rs. 153 billion from commissions, exchange gains, dividends and other operating income during FY26. These sources had resulted in a combined loss of Rs. 24 billion in FY25.

SBP’s administrative and other expenses increased to Rs. 46 billion during the year from Rs. 38 billion in FY25.

Despite the lower profit, the central bank’s balance sheet expanded. Total assets increased to Rs. 28,732 billion in FY26 from Rs. 26,381 billion, while total liabilities rose to Rs. 22,696 billion from Rs. 20,434 billion.

SBP has released its financial statements and auditors’ report for the year ended June 30, 2026, on its website and submitted them to the Federal Government and Parliament under Section 40(3) of the State Bank of Pakistan Act, 1956.

After accounting for statutory and other required appropriations, SBP reported a surplus profit of Rs. 1,932 billion, which was transferred to the Federal Government.
