Saudi Arabia has unveiled the Ceer Exobot Sedan and Exobot SUV, its first locally developed electric vehicles, as the country moves toward its goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2060.
Both models use three electric motors producing a combined 838 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. The sedan can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2.6 seconds, while the SUV takes 2.9 seconds.
Powertrain and Battery
The electric motors are licensed from BMW, which signed an agreement with Ceer when the company launched in 2022.
The rear electric drive unit comes from Rimac Technology, while Hyundai Transys supplies the front motors.
The vehicle platform and electrical architecture come from Foxconn, which also uses the technology for its own Foxtron electric vehicles.
Both Exobot models use a 112 kWh battery and have a claimed range of up to 416 miles under the NEDC testing cycle. An SAE-equivalent range could be around 20% to 30% lower.
The vehicles use an 800-volt electrical architecture and support DC fast charging at up to 250 kW.
Design and Interior
Ceer hired former McLaren designer Rob Melville to oversee the design of the new EVs.
Both vehicles use low, unconventional body shapes, with large glass roofs that Ceer says are the biggest fitted to a current production vehicle.
The windshield uses a silver coating designed to reflect heat, although it is not clear whether the roof uses the same treatment.
The front and rear doors open upward together in a large gullwing-style arrangement.
Inside, both models feature a 48-inch display stretching from one A-pillar to the other.
The SUV measures around 16.5 feet long and 5.5 feet tall, while the sedan is more than 17 feet long and just over 4.5 feet tall.
Production and International Plans
Saudi Arabia will be Ceer’s main market initially.
The company plans to expand across the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in the first half of 2028, followed by possible expansion into the wider Middle East, Africa, and other international markets.
Ceer says its vehicles are being developed to meet global standards, allowing the company to enter additional markets later.
Ceer Motors operates as a joint venture primarily funded by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and Foxconn.
Production is scheduled to begin at King Abdullah Economic City in January 2027, with first deliveries expected in March 2027.
Ceer also plans five more models. These include a larger D-segment sedan, another SUV, and a coupe-SUV in 2027, followed by compact vehicles in 2028.
The company has not announced pricing for the Exobot Sedan or SUV.
