Saudi Arabia has introduced a change to its family visa process that allows skilled expatriate workers to obtain entry visas for eligible family members alongside their own work visas.
Under the new procedure, skilled expatriate heads of households can apply for entry visas for their eligible dependents while completing their own work visa process. The eligible family members include spouses, sons under 25 and unmarried daughters.
The Ministry of Interior introduced the change in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development as part of efforts to improve the quality of life for residents.
Previously, eligible workers had to complete their own work visa process before obtaining entry visas for qualifying family members. The new procedure allows both processes to move forward at the same time.
Family members can enter Saudi Arabia through the newly available process, after which authorities will complete their residency procedures according to applicable regulations and requirements.
The ministry said the measure supports Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to improve living conditions for residents and facilitate the relocation of eligible expatriate workers with their families. The new arrangement applies to eligible dependents only and does not change the requirement to complete residency procedures after their arrival in the Kingdom.
