Saudi Arabia has introduced conditions allowing employers to issue final exit visas for domestic workers during their 90-day probationary period, even if the workers have not yet received residency permits.
The General Directorate of Passports said the service is available electronically through the Absher platform, allowing eligible domestic workers to complete final exit procedures while they are still on probation.
Under the conditions, the worker must be inside Saudi Arabia when the final exit visa is issued and must not be registered as deceased or absent from work.
The worker must also have no outstanding traffic violations and must hold a passport valid for at least 60 days.
Under regulations issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, employers and domestic workers must sign a written employment contract that may include a probationary period of up to 90 days.
The probation period allows employers to assess a worker’s professional competence and conduct before continuing the employment relationship.
Both employers and domestic workers can terminate the contract unilaterally during this period.
A domestic worker cannot be placed on probation more than once with the same employer unless both parties agree to assign the worker a different job from the one covered by the original probation period.
