Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 17C 5G, a budget smartphone with a large display, 5G connectivity, and a high-capacity battery.
Design and Display
The Redmi 17C 5G features a 6.9-inch LCD with a resolution of 1600 × 720 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
The display supports DC dimming, TÜV Rheinland-certified eye comfort features, and Wet Touch, which allows the screen to register inputs when the display or the user’s hands are damp.
The phone measures 7.99mm thick and weighs 211g. It also carries an IP64 rating for protection against dust and water splashes.
Color options include Dark Night, Purple Dawn, and Coffee Brew, with the latter featuring a textured vegan leather back.
Internals and Software
The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, a 6nm chipset with 5G support.
It comes with 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM, while both variants include 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
A microSD card slot supports storage expansion of up to 1TB.
The Redmi 17C 5G runs HyperOS 3 and includes Google AI features such as Gemini Live, Circle to Search, and image-generation tools.
Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Cameras
The rear camera setup includes a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture alongside an auxiliary sensor.
An 8MP front camera handles selfies and video calls.
Both the front and rear cameras support video recording at up to 1080p at 30fps.
Battery and Pricing
The Redmi 17C 5G packs a 6,000mAh battery with support for 33W wired fast charging. Xiaomi includes the 33W charger in the box. The phone also supports 10W reverse wired charging.
Xiaomi says the battery should retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,000 charging cycles.
The 4GB/128GB variant costs approximately $218, while the 6GB/128GB model is priced at around $239. Sales will begin on October 7.
