The Rawalpindi Development Authority has taken action against the illegal advertising and marketing of Signature City Housing Scheme, formerly known as Century Town, in Mouza Gurha Bherta and Begga Sheikha.
According to an RDA spokesperson, the housing scheme was illegal and its sponsors promoted it through social media, WhatsApp, YouTube and other online platforms without obtaining approval from the competent authority.
The RDA has already initiated legal proceedings against the concerned persons and issued a notice under Section 12(5) of the relevant law.
The authority has also referred the matter to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency in Rawalpindi for action against the illegal online advertisements under the applicable laws and regulations.
The spokesperson said Rule 46(1) of the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Scheme Rules, 2021, does not allow sponsors to advertise or offer plots or housing units for sale through print or electronic media, or by any other means, without prior approval.
