Punjab reported 57 confirmed dengue cases in September, according to ARY News.
Rawalpindi recorded the highest number of cases at 22. Lahore reported 14 cases, while Chakwal, Multan and Rahim Yar Khan reported three cases each.
Two cases each were reported in Attock, Gujranwala and Muzaffargarh.
One case each was reported in DG Khan, Faisalabad, Nankana Sahib, Okara, Pakpattan and Sialkot.
The health department said it has taken adequate measures to deal with the outbreak, including a sufficient supply of medicines in public hospitals.
Authorities also issued an advisory asking residents to keep their surroundings clean and dry to help prevent the spread of dengue.
People have been urged to cooperate with health teams working to contain the outbreak. A dedicated helpline, 1033, has also been set up for treatment guidance and complaints.
Dengue is spread through the bite of infected mosquitoes. Its common symptoms include high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, body aches, nausea, vomiting, and skin rash.
There is no specific treatment for dengue, so prevention remains the best defence, including avoiding mosquito bites and reducing mosquito breeding sites.
