The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department will launch a province-wide crackdown on token tax and property tax defaulters from October 1, 2026, with vehicle owners facing a 100% penalty on unpaid token tax after the September 30 deadline.
According to Excise officials, motorists can clear their outstanding token tax under routine payment terms until September 30. Those who remain in default after the deadline will be required to pay the outstanding amount along with an equal amount as penalty.
Property taxpayers have also been given until September 30 to benefit from a 5% concession. Stricter recovery measures will begin after the deadline, with long-term commercial property defaulters expected to face sealing action from October 1.
Officials said the enforcement drive will particularly target commercial properties that have remained in default for several years.
The department has urged vehicle owners and property taxpayers with outstanding dues to make their payments before the deadline to avoid additional penalties and recovery action.
Motor vehicle taxation in Punjab is administered under relevant provincial laws, while the Excise Department’s official website allows citizens to check and pay their dues online.
The Excise and Taxation Department is also responsible for urban immovable property tax and motor vehicle registration and taxation across Punjab.
Officials said the intensified recovery campaign is part of the department’s efforts to meet its Rs. 125 billion revenue target, with all possible measures being taken to recover outstanding dues from defaulters.
