The Punjab government has decided to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) education for special children to help them adapt to the demands of the modern world.
According to Special Education Secretary Shoaib Iqbal, efforts are being made to provide special children with education aligned with modern requirements. Teachers in the special education system will receive specialized training on AI to support the initiative.
Iqbal said modern technology would be used to make learning easier and more effective for special children. New teaching methods will also be introduced based on their individual educational needs.
He added that sports and other activities would be incorporated into the educational process to support the children’s academic and mental development.
The initiative comes as Punjab is also working on broader AI education reforms across its school system. The provincial government plans to introduce AI as a subject from Class 1 to Class 12 and establish laboratories to support the new curriculum.
The reforms also include reducing the volume of textbooks by 25%, adding QR codes linking to video lessons, and increasing teacher training to support the shift toward concept-based learning.
