A Lahore police constable was caught red-handed while allegedly committing a robbery in the Harbanspura area, according to the DIG Operations spokesperson.
The constable, identified as Huzaifa, was reportedly apprehended while allegedly carrying out the crime along with an accomplice.
Police recovered illegal weapons and a motorcycle from the two suspects before taking them into custody. A case has also been registered against both men.
According to the DIG Operations spokesperson, legal action was taken against the police official over his alleged involvement in criminal activities without any discrimination.
The department has not provided further details about the alleged robbery or the identities of the other suspects involved.
The incident comes amid several recent cases involving alleged misconduct and criminal activity by police personnel in Punjab.
Earlier this year, Lahore Police booked several officers under anti-begging laws after an inquiry found that personnel in Shahdara and Islampura had allegedly been demanding money from citizens as “Eidi.”
