The Directorate of Drugs Control Punjab has issued a medicine stoppage alert, ordering a halt to the sale and use of two batches of a dexamethasone injection after inspectors found that the products entered the supply chain before required quality-control testing was completed.
The alert concerns Injection Davdax 1mL, containing Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate 4mg/mL, registered under Reg. No. 121545. The affected batches are DDI132 and DDI133.
According to Alert No. 140/2026, the batches were released into the supply chain before completion of the required quality-control requirements for batch release, in violation of applicable good manufacturing practices.
Authorities said the quality, safety and efficacy of the affected batches could not be assured while testing and investigation remained pending. The stoppage has been described as a precautionary regulatory measure.
Retailers, wholesalers, distributors, healthcare facilities and others holding the specified batches have been directed to immediately stop their sale, supply, dispensing, distribution and use.
Existing stocks must be quarantined, kept separately and reported to the relevant drug inspector or drug inspector distributor or health facility.
Healthcare providers have also been advised to monitor patients who may have received the affected batches and report any suspected adverse drug reactions through the pharmacovigilance system.
Patients who have already received the affected batches and have concerns have been advised to contact their treating healthcare professional.
