The historic Kamran Ki Baradari in Lahore is set to undergo restoration and beautification after fresh directives from the provincial housing department.
The centuries-old Mughal monument, located on the banks of the River Ravi, will be revived as a cultural landmark with improved facilities for visitors.
Horticulture Agency/Parks and Horticulture Authority Managing Director Ahmed Usman Javed visited the site and inspected the location.
During the visit, PHA Director Engineering Samavia and Director Horticulture Amir Farooq briefed him on the restoration and upkeep plan, along with the proposed construction of a riverfront hotel.
Under the new plan, the area around the Baradari will include a restaurant, picnic spots, and landscaped gardens to enhance the visitor experience.
A dedicated access road will also be constructed to make the monument easier to reach.
Boat rides to the site will be introduced to attract tourists, while a heritage museum will be established to showcase the Mughal history and cultural significance of the monument.
The managing director said the long-neglected structure would soon regain its lost grandeur and added that conservation work on heritage sites across Lahore has been fast-tracked.
It may be noted that, in addition to the riverside hotel, the Punjab government has approved the expansion of the restoration and uplift project of historic Kamran’s Baradari, increasing its area from five acres to 15 acres.
