Punjab Launches Dedicated Emergency Helpline for Women and Children

Punjab Police is set to introduce a new response system for Police Emergency Helpline 15 calls involving women and children, with female police personnel serving as first responders.

The initiative will initially be launched as a pilot project in Model Town Division.

Under the new system, female police officers and personnel will immediately reach the location after receiving a relevant call on Helpline 15. They will receive an application from the affected woman at the scene and issue a diary number on the spot.

The system is designed to reduce the need for affected women and children to make repeated visits to police stations for the registration of cases. It will also help minimize unnecessary travel after a case has been registered.

Officials said the initiative is aimed at making the case registration process easier for women, ensuring a prompt response to domestic violence complaints, and providing legal guidance through female police officers at the scene.

The system will be expanded to other areas if the pilot project in Model Town Division proves successful.
