The Punjab Home Department has extended the ban on flying drones in open spaces across the province for another 30 days under Section 144.
According to a Home Department spokesperson, the complete ban on outdoor drone flights remains in force across Punjab.
The spokesperson said the provincial government decided to extend the restriction in view of security concerns.
He clarified that limited use of small drones will be allowed during events held inside halls and marquees, but organizers will be fully responsible for ensuring safe use of drones at such events.
According to the notification, intelligence and law enforcement agencies have been exempted from the ban.
The Home Department has also established district-level Safe Drone Usage Committees. Written permission for the safe use of drones for agricultural, irrigation and research purposes will be granted by these committees.
Drones operating under written permission issued by the committees will be exempt from the ban.
The spokesperson said public safety, law and order, and protection of property are the Punjab government’s top priorities.
The Secretary Home Punjab has imposed the ban on outdoor drone use under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
District administrations and police have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the orders.
