The Punjab Finance Department has approved Rs. 4 billion for the payment of salaries and stipends to College Teacher Interns (CTIs) across the province.
According to sources, the funds will initially be released to the Higher Education Department for payments to the interns.
The Higher Education Department has already submitted a summary seeking approval to recruit more than 9,000 CTIs for government colleges across Punjab. The summary is currently pending approval at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
Officials said the Finance Department has completed the necessary financial arrangements. The Rs. 4 billion allocation will be released to the Higher Education Department once the recruitment summary is approved.
The proposed recruitment is aimed at meeting teaching requirements in government colleges across the province.
Following approval from the Chief Minister’s Office and the release of funds, the Higher Education Department will begin the recruitment and placement process for the new CTIs.
The latest development comes as the provincial government moves to address teaching requirements in government colleges through the recruitment of temporary teaching staff.
