The Punjab government has approved the recruitment of new intelligence operators for the Special Branch to fill vacant positions in its intelligence cadre.
According to a report, authorities initially proposed filling 113 Intelligence Operator (BS-7) vacancies. They sent a summary to the Punjab chief minister for approval.
However, the Punjab Finance Department recommended hiring only 61 intelligence operators due to limited financial resources.
The department said the government must consider long-term salary expenses and future pension payments before making new appointments.
Punjab’s chief secretary also supported the Finance Department’s recommendation to reduce the number of positions.
The government needed to relax the existing ban on new recruitment to fill the vacant BS-7 posts in the Special Branch.
Authorities later presented the recruitment proposal to the provincial cabinet. The cabinet approved the proposal through circulation.
However, the report did not clearly confirm whether the final approval covers 61 or all 113 positions.
The recruitment aims to fill vacant posts in the Punjab Special Branch’s intelligence cadre. The report did not provide an application schedule, eligibility criteria, or recruitment deadline.
