The Punjab government has approved 5,000 laptops for students in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, with the provincial cabinet giving the go-ahead for distribution based on merit, academic performance and institutional needs.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the laptops will be distributed among students of public-sector educational institutions across Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The Punjab government will collect student data from the relevant institutions to determine the distribution process. Officials said the allocation formula will consider the number of students, academic performance and the needs of each institution.
Students enrolled in public-sector colleges and universities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir will be eligible for the scheme.
After cabinet approval, the Punjab and AJK governments will finalise the procedure for supplying and distributing the laptops.
The initiative aims to improve access to modern technology and online learning facilities for students in public-sector institutions and support their academic work.
