Punjab Announces New Facility for CM E-Bike Scheme Applicants
The Punjab Traffic Police has introduced special arrangements for students applying for driving licenses under the provincial government’s 100,000 electric bike scheme.
Punjab DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir has directed all licensing centers to facilitate students interested in the e-bike scheme. According to the traffic police spokesperson, CTOs and DTOs will make the licensing process easier for eligible students.
Students will be able to obtain both a motorcycle learner’s and regular driving license on the same day. Applicants under the e-bike scheme will also not have to wait the usual 42 days after obtaining a learner’s license to apply for the regular license.
A valid driving license is mandatory for students seeking to benefit from the e-bike scheme.
The traffic police said more than 222,000 motorcycle driving licenses were issued during the past eight days, while over 6,500 juvenile driving permits have been issued this month.
Waqas Nazir directed licensing centers to provide the best possible facilities to students applying for licenses through the e-bike scheme. He also stressed the importance of safe-driving training so students can become confident and responsible riders.
