The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) processed 1,726,303 URLs under different content categories through July 2026, with significant differences in the number of URLs processed, reviewed, rejected, and blocked across categories.
The Decency and Morality category accounted for the largest share, with 1,075,762 URLs processed. Of these, 563 remained under review, while 9,528 were rejected. The category recorded a blocking rate of 99.06 percent.
Terrorism was the second-largest category, with 179,285 URLs processed. It was followed by Against Glory of Islam, with 136,891 URLs, and Against Security & Defence of Pakistan, with 125,427 URLs.
The PTA also processed 76,526 URLs under Sectarian/Hate Speech, while 67,778 URLs were processed under the Miscellaneous category.
Proxy URLs Have Highest Blocking Rate
The category-wise figures show that Proxy-related URLs recorded the highest blocking rate, at 99.99 percent. Out of 10,319 processed URLs, 10,318 were blocked.
The Decency and Morality category had the second-highest blocking rate at 99.06 percent. Terrorism recorded a blocking rate of 79.15 percent, while Against Glory of Islam had a blocking rate of 82.17 percent.
The lowest blocking rate was recorded in the Defamatory/Impersonation category, at 39.27 percent.
PTA Blocks 89% of Processed URLs
Overall, the PTA blocked 1,542,800 URLs, accounting for 89.37 percent of the 1,726,303 URLs processed through July 2026.
Meanwhile, 76,874 URLs remained under review, while 106,629 URLs were rejected.
