PTA Declares Buying and Selling Foreign SIMs Illegal
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has warned the public against buying and selling foreign SIM cards in Pakistan, declaring the practice illegal and cautioning citizens about the potential risks associated with their use.
According to a public awareness message issued by the PTA, purchasing foreign SIM cards poses serious security risks, as such SIMs can be misused for fraudulent activities and other unlawful purposes.
The authority cautioned that foreign SIM cards may be exploited by individuals involved in fraud, potentially exposing buyers and users to legal and security complications.
PTA has advised citizens to protect themselves by avoiding the purchase and sale of foreign SIM cards and using only locally registered SIM cards issued in their own names.
The authority has urged mobile phone users to ensure that their SIM connections are properly registered, stressing the importance of responsible SIM usage to prevent fraud, misuse, and other illegal activities.
