PSX Plunges Below 174,000

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) remained under pressure on Monday as the KSE-100 Index fell 1,693 points, or 0.97 percent, to close at 173,636.

The index moved between an intraday high of 175,353 and a low of 173,603 as renewed US-Iran tensions and high international oil prices weakened investor sentiment.

Investors remained concerned about higher inflation, pressure on Pakistan’s external account and the impact of prolonged geopolitical tensions on the economy.

Topline Securities posted that refinery stocks also faced selling pressure after reports that the government plans to impose financial penalties on refineries that fail to sign Upgradation Agreements with the Petroleum Division by October 1, 2026.

The move raised concerns about possible financial costs for refinery companies.
