The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) came under heavy selling pressure on Monday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index plunging 2,288 points as renewed political uncertainty hit investor sentiment.
The KSE-100 fell to an intraday low of 2,391 points before recovering slightly to close at 165,867, down 2,288 points or 1.36 percent.
The sell-off came as the opposition’s long march began after government-opposition talks failed to reach an agreement, raising concerns about further political disruption.
Investors were also cautious due to continued uncertainty over international crude oil prices and the broader economic outlook.
With no major positive market triggers, investors reduced their positions, resulting in broad-based selling across the market.
