Poland has made online applications mandatory for foreigners seeking temporary residence, permanent residence, or long-term EU resident status, replacing the previous paper-based submission process.
The country’s Office for Foreigners introduced the new system, known as MOS, requiring applicants to submit their documents electronically.
Under the revised process, paper applications sent by post are no longer accepted for most residence permit categories. Applications that failed to reach provincial offices before the specified deadline will not be processed, regardless of when they were mailed.
The MOS portal is also the only accepted application channel for foreigners already living in Poland who want to regularize or extend their residence status.
To assist applicants, the Office for Foreigners has published frequently asked questions and additional guidance on legal migration. Those seeking further clarification can contact the office on working days between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Meanwhile, Poland’s official migration portal has also outlined the circumstances under which foreigners may qualify for permanent residence. These include marriage to a Polish citizen, possession of a valid Pole’s Card, or being granted asylum.
