PM Shehbaz Announces Petrol Subsidy Again for Bikers and Small Cars

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a special petrol subsidy to reduce the impact of higher fuel prices on citizens using motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws and cars up to 800cc.

Under the scheme, eligible users will receive Rs. 100 per litre relief on a limited monthly quantity of petrol.

Motorcycle, rickshaw and Qingqi users will receive the relief on up to 20 litres of petrol per month, providing maximum monthly support of Rs. 2,000.

Owners of cars with engines up to 800cc will receive Rs. 100 per litre relief on up to 30 litres of petrol per month, with maximum monthly support of Rs. 3,000.

The government said the scheme has been introduced in response to rising global oil prices following recent tensions in the Middle East.

Registration for the scheme has started today. The government will share details of the registration process through an awareness campaign.

The scheme will initially be implemented in Islamabad from the night between Monday and Tuesday. It will be extended across Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, from the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

The relief is specifically targeted at smaller vehicles and three-wheelers that are widely used for daily commuting and local transportation.
