Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Afghanistan’s Kam Air have signed an interline agreement to make travel from Afghanistan to Middle Eastern destinations easier through Islamabad.
The agreement allows passengers to book their complete journey under a single reservation instead of purchasing separate tickets for each flight segment.
Under the arrangement, the first phase will connect Kabul to Dammam via Islamabad. Passengers traveling from Kabul will have their checked baggage transferred directly to their connecting PIA flight at Islamabad International Airport, eliminating the need to collect and recheck luggage during transit.
The agreement also allows Afghan passengers traveling to Gulf destinations to remain in the airside transit area at Islamabad airport and avoid immigration clearance in Pakistan.
A spokesman said the cooperation between PIA, which underwent privatization earlier this year, and Kam Air establishes a streamlined transit route linking Afghanistan with key Middle Eastern destinations through Islamabad.
