Rupee Index Hits 8-Year High
Pakistan’s Real Effective Exchange Rate (REER) rose to 108.93 in September 2026, marking an eight year high and remaining above its 10 year average of 102.26, according to Topline Securities.
The REER increased from 107.87 in August 2026, according to the accompanying chart, indicating a further rise in the index.
A REER reading above 100 suggests that a country’s currency may be overvalued relative to the currencies of its trading partners.
The index measures the value of a country’s currency against a basket of other currencies, adjusted for relative price levels. Its movement can provide an indication of changes in a country’s international price competitiveness.
