PHC Hears Petition For Olive Plantation Along Motorways
The Peshawar High Court on Wednesday heard a petition seeking olive plantation along motorways.
After hearing arguments from lawyers, the court reserved its verdict.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer said several trees had already been planted in vacant spaces along the motorway and suggested that olive trees should also be planted there because they would help improve the environment.
The lawyer said olive plantation could also support the economy and noted that Pakistan has now joined the list of countries exporting olive oil.
The Additional Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said the provincial government had already carried out tree plantation under the Billion Tree Tsunami project, which also included olive trees. He added that the government supports all environment-friendly measures.
