The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will take over management of Hyderabad’s Niaz Stadium for 20 years under an agreement scheduled to be signed with the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (HMC).
According to HMC, the board will pay Rs. 10,000 in monthly rent, while the corporation will receive 20% of the stadium’s gate-ticket revenue.
Ownership will remain with HMC, but the PCB will gain full administrative control, along with rights over commercial and broadcasting activities at the venue.
The agreement also requires the board to upgrade the stadium to international standards so it can host international cricket, first-class fixtures, and Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches.
The move follows renewed attention on the ground, which hosted the unveiling of the seventh PSL franchise’s official name and logo in February 2026.
Established in 1959, Niaz Stadium has a capacity of approximately 15,000 spectators. It hosted five Tests, including the 1,000th Test in cricket history between Pakistan and New Zealand, and a Pakistan-Sri Lanka fixture during the 1987 World Cup.
International cricket returned to the venue in January 2008, when Pakistan faced Zimbabwe in an ODI following upgrades by the PCB.
The board previously managed the stadium for 11 years before the Qasimabad Municipal Committee revoked the arrangement and reclaimed control on April 2, 2018.
