The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rejected a proposal to reduce Pakistani players’ salaries in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) following a virtual meeting with franchise owners.
During the meeting, one franchise owner raised concerns about high player salaries and suggested reviewing them. However, the PCB declined to approve the proposal.
The board also instructed all stakeholders with outstanding dues to clear their payments by October 31.
An official from one of the defaulting companies assured the PCB that the company would fulfill its financial obligations.
“We are not going to run away. I will arrange a bank guarantee against my land and submit it to the PCB,” the official said.
Meanwhile, a representative of another defaulting franchise said he was unaware of the matter and that only the company’s owner could provide further details.
The auction for PSL Season 12 is expected to take place on January 23. During the meeting, one franchise owner suggested holding the auction in China.
The PCB also set January 13 as the deadline for player retentions. However, another franchise owner proposed moving the process to December.
The owner of another team said he would share his views after consulting his cricket operations team.
According to the proposed tournament dates, PSL 12 will begin on March 18, with the final scheduled for May 2 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
The South Asian Games (SAG) are scheduled to take place in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar from April 4 to 11. As a result, no PSL matches will be held in these cities during that period.
The tournament schedule will be finalized at the next meeting of the cricket committee.
During the meeting, PCB officials also briefed franchise representatives on promising young players emerging from school cricket.
The board expressed its intention to develop these players into future cricket stars and encouraged franchises to evaluate their abilities, identify talented prospects and help them develop within their teams.
Franchise owners responded positively to the proposal.
