Renowned Pakistani wrestler Inam Butt could face a suspension after reportedly testing positive for a prohibited substance during the Asian Beach Games in China.
According to reports, Inam Butt underwent a doping test during the event in April. The case is now under review by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), which will decide the next course of action after examining his explanation and medical records.
Sources close to the wrestler said Butt did not knowingly take any performance-enhancing substance. They claimed he had been taking prescribed medication while receiving treatment for an eye-related condition before the competition.
Butt has reportedly submitted details of the medication to WADA, along with medical scans and prescriptions from his doctors. The sources also claimed that WADA had previously granted him permission to use the medication for one year.
The wrestler remains in contact with anti-doping officials as the case is reviewed. A final decision will depend on WADA’s assessment of the medical evidence and circumstances surrounding the positive test.
