Pakistan Customs has foiled an alleged attempt to smuggle nearly 580 grams of chars worth around Rs. 2 million from Karachi to Dubai.
Customs officials intercepted a husband and wife during routine screening at the international departures area of Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.
The couple was booked to travel to Dubai on FlyDubai flight FZ330 when Customs officials became suspicious and conducted a detailed inspection.
Officials recovered two wooden jewellery boxes containing specially designed concealed compartments. Each box held around 290 grams of chars, bringing the total recovery to nearly 580 grams.
Customs seized the narcotics and registered a case against both suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997.
Further investigation is underway.
