MoITT, Ignite, and Alibaba Cloud organized a training session for senior government officials to help them understand and work with AI across different government institutions.
The training session, called “AI for Public Sector Leaders,” was held at the National Incubation Center (NIC) Islamabad.
Through expert-led sessions, live demonstrations and hands-on exercises, participants learned how to identify suitable AI applications, improve institutional workflows and develop solutions for real-world operational challenges.
The training also covered key issues related to AI adoption, including data privacy, accuracy, cybersecurity, data sovereignty and human oversight.
The program is the first in a series of AI capacity-building initiatives under the Government of Pakistan’s digital transformation agenda, aligned with the vision of the Prime Minister.
Under the leadership of Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, the ministry is promoting informed discussions on artificial intelligence and coordinating resources to strengthen AI capabilities across the public sector and the broader innovation ecosystem.
Speaking on the occasion, Special Secretary IT and Telecommunication Syed Muhammad Ammar Naqvi said the training was a practical step toward the government’s vision of a digitally empowered Pakistan.
He said engaging senior officials directly with AI tools would ensure that the country’s digital transformation agenda is led by decision-makers who understand both the opportunities and responsibilities associated with artificial intelligence.
Participants also gained practical experience with Alibaba Cloud’s AI ecosystem, including Qoder and QoderWork. They explored AI applications for document summarization, citizen response services, automated briefing preparation, and developing applications based on official government information.
Ignite Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Bilal Abbasi said Pakistan was well-positioned to accelerate AI adoption due to the strong momentum created through academic and industry partnerships, including collaboration with Alibaba Group, as well as the readiness of government officers to lead the transition.
The programme brought together federal secretaries, directors general and senior government officials involved in policymaking, public service delivery, digital transformation and technology procurement.
