Pakistan Thrash Sri Lanka to Clinch T20I Series

Pakistan sealed the three-match T20I series with an emphatic 82-run victory over Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead.

Maaz Sadaqat struck 96 and captain Sahibzada Farhan scored 73 as Pakistan posted 215/3 after being asked to bat. Mohammad Imran then claimed three wickets for just 11 runs in four overs to help restrict Sri Lanka to 133/7.

Farhan and Fakhar Zaman gave Pakistan a strong start with a 55-run opening partnership. Fakhar departed for 22 off 17 balls before Maaz joined Farhan to add another 88 runs.

Farhan’s 44-ball innings included five sixes and four fours. After his dismissal, Maaz maintained the pressure through a rapid 72-run stand with Hasan Nawaz.

Maaz hit seven fours and six sixes in his 51-ball knock but fell on the final delivery, four runs short of his maiden T20I century. Hasan remained unbeaten on 19 from nine balls.

Sri Lanka struggled early in the chase and slumped to 74/6. Chamindu Wickramasinghe and Maheesh Theekshana offered resistance with a 50-run seventh-wicket partnership, but the target remained out of reach.

Theekshana finished unbeaten on 32, while Wickramasinghe made 29. Salman Mirza took two wickets, with Saim Ayub and Shadab Khan claiming one each.

The final match will be played at the same venue on Tuesday, 13 October.
