Pakistan Launches Special Training Camp for Hockey Goalkeepers

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) launched a seven-day training camp for 15 junior and senior goalkeepers in Islamabad to improve goalkeeping standards in the country.

The camp is being held at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium under the supervision of Dutch coach Bob Veldhof. For the first time in Pakistan, a foreign specialist goalkeeping coach will provide advanced training to selected players.

The program includes morning and evening sessions focusing on modern goalkeeping techniques, technical skills, physical fitness, and mental confidence in line with international standards.

According to a PHF spokesperson, the initiative aims to strengthen the national team’s defense and prepare goalkeepers to meet the challenges of modern hockey.

Pakistan’s hockey teams have faced defensive challenges in recent years, and the federation hopes that specialized training will improve goalkeeping performance and strengthen the teams’ defensive capabilities.

The PHF said the camp is part of its efforts to promote hockey in Pakistan and support the long-term development of the sport.
