Pakistan Invites US to Enter Balochistan

Pakistan has invited American companies to explore investment opportunities in Balochistan’s mineral and mining sector.

This was discussed during a meeting between Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan and US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker in Islamabad on October 20.

The discussions covered trade, investment and technical cooperation, with the US delegation expressing interest in greater investment and cooperation in Pakistan’s mineral sector.

Both sides reported progress but said some technical issues remained unresolved.

Jam Kamal highlighted investment opportunities in agriculture and industry, including modern farming, food processing and cold-chain infrastructure. He identified Hub in Balochistan as a potential location for manufacturing, industrial investment and special economic zones.

The two sides also discussed developing value-added products from Balochistan, particularly dates and olive oil, with investment in processing and storage facilities seen as an opportunity to help local producers reach international markets.
